New CEO Named for Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon

The Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon is pleased to announce that Brenda Wallace has been hired as the charity’s new CEO, effective immediately.

Prior to joining Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon, Ms. Wallace held the position of Director of Environmental and Corporate Initiatives at the City of Saskatoon.  She brings a variety of experience to the position.  Her background also includes Resource Planning Manager at Meewasin, leading the Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance (SEDA) as Executive Director, and was the founding Executive Director for the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP).  Ms. Wallace is a Registered Professional Planner in Saskatchewan educated at the University of Saskatchewan in Regional and Urban Planning and at the School of Resource and Environmental Planning, Massey University, New Zealand.  She and her husband, Alan, have 2 adult children.

Mike Russell, Chair of the Board of Directors, said: “The Board of Directors is very much looking forward to working with Brenda.  It is an exciting time for the organization as it commences a major new building project and continues to explore new initiatives.  The Board would also like to recognize and thank the outgoing CEO, Barb Cox-Lloyd, for her excellent service and contributions over the past ten years.”

“I am looking forward to sharing my experience in economic, social and environmental initiatives with the talented and passionate team at Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon.” said Brenda Wallace. “The organization has an excellent reputation that is well-deserved.”

Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon built its first home in 1993. The organization partners with families—helping them achieve the dream of home ownership. Habitat families go through a selection process, volunteer 500 hours on house builds and make monthly mortgage payments toward home ownership once they move in.  In the last 25 years, Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon has built more than 60 homes in Saskatoon and area.
