Conexus Credit Union does a great deal in the community, focusing on initiatives that promote financial wellness in Saskatchewan. They have contributed to our community through financial literacy programs, capital projects, and programs that address basic human needs in the areas of education, food, shelter and health services.

Conexus has been supporting Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon in a variety of ways and we are so thrilled they chose the 2018 Women’s Build to sponsor and support! As our lead sponsor for the 2018 Women’s Build, they not only contributed through generous sponsorship, but also supported us by sending out two teams on August 30th and 31st to the build site to build alongside us! They were amazing crews to work with and I know all of our staff and families are grateful for their support!

Conexus Team 1: August 30, 2018

The Women’s Build empowers women to build Habitat for Humanity homes, enabling them to positively impact the lives of children and make home ownership a reality for families. Habitat Saskatoon’s Women’s Build is not about excluding men, but rather it’s about including women. We know at times some women can feel intimidated on a build site; but in the comfortable environment of a Women’s Build, they quickly learn construction skills. By planning projects where the majority of volunteers are women, more women become involved in Habitat’s construction efforts, thereby increasing the number of houses Habitat can build. The more homes we build, the more families we help to get out of poverty.

During the Women’s Build we have been working on homes for 6 local families and when the site is complete it will house 12 families and over 35 children under the age of 10! Affordable home ownership empowers families to improve their lives. Habitat homeowners have better health outcomes, their children achieve higher levels of educations and develop independence. When a family has a safe, stable and affordable place to call home they are able to create a better life for themselves and their children.

Conexus Team 2: August 31, 2018

The 2018 Women’s Build has been truly amazing; a total of 46 teams will have joined us by the end of the event!  It is truly incredible to see the Saskatoon community band together to create change for local families! Thank you Conexus for all you have done, we look forward to what else we can accomplish together in the future!
